Before I start to tell you about how awesome this park is. I have to tell you about the night of non-sleep we had the night before.
It all started with McKay. Little McKay that seems to always pick up any sickness, illness, bug that anyone has. The day before we left McKay was complaining about some sores in his mouth. Turns out he got hand, foot and mouth. We thought he had canker sore-so we blew it off. Sorry McKay. No fun for him. But he was in pretty good spirits and slept and ate okay. Well…. Hayden got it. During the night he likes to sleep with a binkey. But he couldn’t take it because he had some really nasty mouth sores. So Linz and I were up all night with him. Keep in mind that all 5 of us are all in one room. Hayden is screaming at the top of his lunges. Linz and I are trying everything we can to comfort him so he doesn’t wake up the other kids. We each took turns holding him, bouncing him, rocking him, walking him. I think all night we only slept 3 hours. Maybe 3 hours. Finally the morning came. “Oh my gosh that was the worst night ever! But we are going to Tokyo Disney Sea and we are gonna like it!”
As I tell you about all of the awesome things here, keep in mind that Hayden, Linz and I are going on 3 hours of sleep.
At the entrance of Tokyo Disney Sea is this awesome ship with MicKay flying it with his friends! I took the photo towards the evening. but what an awesome site to start a park right?!?
Below is us at the park entrance. Lots of people, lots of selfies and lots of pictures everywhere.
Because Hayden wasn’t feeling very good we had to do our best to just let him run around and do what he wanted to do. I took him out towards the evening in order to take some pictures. This globe is another awesome part right at the park entrance.
Hayden tried several times to jump this fence and climb in the water. But I thought it would make a good picture to have the globe behind him.
More Entrance photos!
Ok so we finally made it into the park. The layout of this park is very different than any other disney park in the world.
Of all the places in this amazing park we had scouted out and zeroes in our Mermaid Lagoon. Let’s just say that Kennedy is more than obsessed with mermaids and so we knew this would be a big hit. As soon as we got in the park we rushed to Mermaid Lagoon.
Mermaid Lagoon
Inside Mermaid Lagoon had several rides and then en underground “under the sea” world you can explore. It has three rides, a splash pad and Arial’s grotto!
Photos!
The ambiance of this undersea play area was undeniably the coolest part of any disney park I have been to. It was incredible. Lights, sounds, music, accuracy of art and the rides were all just perfect!
Spinning cups! Yeah, not for me! But they rest of the family had a good time!
Prince Eric was found by Kennedy and she loved it! She was wandering around just talking non stop about everything!
Oh and she found Arial!
Below are the videos that I took of Mermaid Lagoon! Awesome place! Seriously so sad we couldn’t go back for a second day.
The Rest of Disney Sea
We were greeted by a ton of characters here. When we met characters in the states everyone formed a nice orderly line and waited your turn for the character to greet you and then you get your picture taken. Apparently that isn’t how things work here. It is more of a mob mentality and you have to, literally, push your way up to the front. So when we met with the characters we threw our kids right in the characters face and so they had to pay attention to them.
I think of all the characters, McKay was most excited about goofy. Can’t you tell that is his excited face!
We gave the kids an autograph book to collect the character signatures. They had a good time with it.
Another thing we wanted to do while at Disney Sea was to take a Gondola ride. So we sat in line for like 40 minutes to get a ride. I think during the wait we had everyone around us watching us and our kids because Hayden was climbing, and yelling and crying and climbing and yelling and crying over and over again. But what else do you look at while waiting in line than the American family with 3 kids?
Once we got on the ride it was a little easier. Oh except for the fact that we had to wrestle Hayden from jumping into the water.
McKay really is happy. He just hates pictures.
So they have this huge volcano in the middle of Disney Sea. I think it is called Mount Prometheus. It erupts with fire randomly throughout the day. But it makes for some cool images and a fun environment.
Below are a few random images around the park. We spent a good amount of time at the Arabian coast riding rides at Port Discovery where they had like a playground area and places for the kids to explore.
Arabian Coast rides included: Jasmines flying carpets, Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage and Caravan Carousel
This was another cool place at the top of Port Discovery. Great views and would have been an awesome places for photos. But it was so overcast that day so there was not a good sky.
Above is the Mediterranean Harbor. This is where we watched the show Fantasmic at the end of the night. I’ll post some video of the show. It was a good show and the kids really like it. The animatronics were unreal.
Above is the Arabian coast carousel. It was two stories. One on each level. The building it self looks awesome. Below is the entrance of the park as you approach the Mediterranean Harbor.
The most popular ride in all of Tokyo Disney or Disney Sea is the Toy Story ride. It is insane! I have no idea why they love this ride so much but they are all obsessed. It was a pretty good ride and the line to get into the ride is almost as good as the ride itself. We got to the park 20 minutes after opening and the wait time was 45 minutes. Other times during the day it can get up to 2 hours long. The FastPass line is just as long and can run out by 2 hours after opening. Obsessed…
We let Hayden run free most of the time because it was too much work to corral him. Honestly, we dont know how many people we shared HFM with but what else were we to do? Sorry Disney for sharing a high contagious disease…..:) Its a good thing the park is mostly adults and not children.
Verdict on Tokyo Disney – AWESOME!
It was SO much busier than Tokyo Disney. There were people everywhere and I don’t know if people here really look out for other people as they walk because it was a mess to walk around.
At the end of the night we stayed and watched fantansmic which was a show on the harbor. People began setting up for this show hours before it began. By the end of the night we were all exhausted. So tired. But it was nothing compared to the next couple of days. We were up all night with Hayden every night until we left. We slept maybe 3 hours a night and Hayden slept about the same because of his sickness.
This is poor little Hayden. He felt so awful and we could barely get him to drink water or juice. Lucky for us Hayden was sick for the rest of our trip and then got better the day we got home. Funny how that works right?
