For us in Okinawa we live in a kind of bubble. One that is warm and fuzzy and kind of oblivious to the world. Lately Linz and I have been having hard time with the weather here. It was been “cold.” Which means that it is in the 50s and has been raining a lot. We get so mad that we don’t wake up to a gorgeous sky every morning. It is wears us down when we wake up to gray and cloudy skies. Plus, I’m kind of all about the big skies. But even amidst the gray clouds we have had an occasional sun shine. Those days we don’t hesitate to leave the house and get out and soak it all in.
The park shown above was so good that the kid wants to go back for a second round. I took them for a second round one morning after it had rained and so this huge slide was really wet. But they didn’t care. They had a good time anyways!
Linz also turned 30 this month. She is wonderful and super cute! Best wife I could ever ask for. We didn’t do anything huge, but we did let the kids decorate cup cakes. I made a home made cheesecake. Then we went on a date together and had a nice dinner at an awesome restaurant.
We went to an awesome place called “Sea Glass Beach” with the kids for an adventure. Kennedy was SO excited to look for the the glass among the washed up coral and sea shells. I’m pretty sure that filled up 2 or 3 buckets.
Hayden was in love with the beach. He just walked right into the water and didn’t even hesitate. He threw the sand and rocks and almost face planted several times because he was so excited about everything.
I love sunset at the beach! I’m so glad that I could enjoy it with my family! I don’t get to do that very often. But I’m glad that we did.
There is a Japanese tradition of watching the first light of the new year from a castle ruins. It was pretty fun as people lined the walls of this castle. The sunrise was not spectacular by any means, but I took part of the tradition. I thought it was fun to see all of the people line up and get their cameras out and take their photos. Families were there with little kids all trying to take it in! I like this tradition of watching the sunrise better than staying up late and watching the ball drop on TV.
Here are a couple of other photos that I have taken from around Okinawa. The shrines and temples here are absolutely amazing! I seriously love them. This one is situated along this large cliff and overlooks the beach. How awesome is that! When I first go to the shrine I was there early enough that only a few people came up and did their morning prayers. I got to watch them. It felt so peaceful, quiet and calm. I could have stayed there so much longer! But I knew the sun was coming up so I had to go and get a vantage point so I could watch the sun come over the horizon. I wasn’t disappointed with that either!
In any case, here are the two photos.
Thank you all for stopping by! Until next time…
